Canyon Composites Inc. is a key supplier of dimensionally stable space structures. Working with many large prime contractors such including Boeing Satellite Systems, Ball Aerospace, Orbital Sciences, and General Dynamics, CCI has wide experience with extremely difficult composites assembly projects.

Often these projects utilize a wide variety of piecepart configurations made of both metallics and composites. Canyon’s utility is in its ability to manufacture all of these using in house capabilities for tooling, laminating, machining, and post processing. One example of such a wide array of capabilities is the delivery of dimensionally stable satellite reflector / antennas.

PIECEPART MANUFACTURE

Pieces required to assemble composite reflectors number in the hundreds and are an assemblage of honeycomb, laminates, metallics, and fasteners. CCI has the capability of making all of these articles and required tooling in house. Composites and Metallics are segregated for cleanliness in separate controlled machining and fabrication areas. Each piecepart is kept under complete surveillance and undergoes rigorous inspection within our AS9100 certified quality assurance system. Customer participation is welcome and solicited during the early stages of manufacture in order to insure that all final needs are exceeded.

ASSEMBLY AND PERFORMANCE

Prior to assembly, all parts are kitted to insure that all material needed for assembly is ready. Following a formal manufacturing readiness review the hardware is assembled to final configuration. Within controlled environment rooms, the hardware is constantly scrutinized for adherence to customer requirements. Again, all aspects of this operation are open to the customer to insure satisfaction. Canyon is versed in the most advanced and reliable assembly techniques.

To date, Canyon has had record breaking performance from dimensionally stable structures manufactured within our facilities. These structures have undergone the full suite of thermal, mechanical, and electrical testing required and passed with exceedingly high performance.
